Thank-You Blogs of Note and New Followers

Click here for Blogs of Note

Hello, Hello Everyone!!

It has been such an exciting past couple of days between celebrating my birthday and my feature on Blogs of Note. If I may be completely honest, I had no idea such a blog existed until I woke up one morning, discovered a lot of new followers, and traced the traffic source to my own blog. What an incredible honor to have Travel Write Draw spotlighted like this and furthermore to have all of you wonderful (and extremely sweet) followers now onboard the journey. Welcome and thank-you from the bottom of my heart to each and everyone of you.

May I just add the biggest, warmest thank-you to the Blogs of Note team (wherever you are) for this amazing gesture. I'm incredibly grateful and I feel so lucky to have all of you viewers to come along with me for the ride. Have a great start to your week.

Much love,
Meag xx

Illustrating at Urban Outfitters: Around the World Fall 2011 Preview

Hello Friends,

I hope you had a spectacular weekend!! I'm finally able to post the pictures from Friday night's event at Urban Outfitters. I had such a blast at the Around the World Fall 2011 preview. We were able to draw portraits of some of the most stylish and youthful New Yorkers around. My art collective Fashion Art NYC did such an amazing job engaging the crowd of customers and don't even get me started on the incredible tunes that were blaring through the speakers (I couldn't stop moving!!). Oh and to top it all off they were serving macarons at the party. How fitting considering my Macaron Marie was featured on their blog Friday morning.

Thank-you to Urban Outfitters for inviting us to attend and illustrate at the event. Also, many hugs to the portrait participants who waited patiently to be illustrated. I was so inspired by the whole experience, and after reviewing the collection's lookbook, that I decided to produce the original illustration you see above. I started researching traditional Ukrainian garments (partially because I am Ukrainian) but also because a portion of the lookbook was shot there. I combined the headpiece and necklace with the reference of a girl showcased in the lookbook wearing the uber cool sunglasses. I think it feels very Around the World esque, or at the very least Ukrainian :)

Thanks for tuning in everyone.

Much love,
Meag xx

FNO at Lord & Taylor + Fall Fashion Week Fun

Hello Darlings,

What an absolutely chaotic week I just had. I knew it was going to be crazy but I never imagined it would be THIS crazy!! Wednesday night I had the great privilege of attending BlackBook Magazine's 15th Anniversary Party. Oddly enough my greatest highlight was not landing eyes on the beautiful Alexander Skarsgard of True Blood, but actually meeting my favorite gossip blogger ever; JustJared lol. Thursday night, as you know, was FNO in New York and I spent the greater part of three hours drawing portraits at Lord & Taylor.

I have to tell you that it was single handedly one of the wildest experiences I've ever had. The lineups for each of our tables wrapped around the third floor garment racks. I witnessed a full-blown fight after a woman was hellbent on being drawn by another artist and myself. The pressure we were under was unbelievable, meeting and drawing stranger after stranger. Eventually I found that I was able to disconnect and just draw like I would in class. Fortunately we had the incredible support of Karen Santry and FIT's Illustration Chairperson Ed Soyka to keep us on track.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was visited by the beautiful and talented illustrator/designer Joanna Baker and the gorgeous girls of Trois Femmes: Sherry, Shirley, and Rachel. I also owe a huge thank-you to my amazing friends Josina Hector and Jenny Devenny for coming out to show their support and take so many of the pictures you see above. I was almost in tears at a certain point in the evening (in part because it was sensory overload) but also because it was the first time I saw, right in front of me, the joy that portrait drawing brings to people.

The fun continued onto Friday when Joanna and I met-up to attend Blogger's Night Out at Pranna. The event was so beautiful, professional, and well organized with free cocktails, snacks, and swag bags to boot. I can't believe this all happened in the span of three days. Oh and did I mention that Fashion Week isn't even over until the 15th?! This Wednesday I will be illustrating the VIP's and Bloggers attending the N:F:P fashion show at Wix Lounge alongside powerhouse illustrator Mara Cespon. Lastly, this Friday I will be participating in perhaps the most exciting event of all (cannot disclose just yet :).

So there you have it loves, my little/big whopping update. I wish I could have met all of you from near and far, because simply put, you make this all worthwhile. Sending so much love.
